Boston Playwright's Theatre seeks trans/non-binary actors to audition for their February 2020 production of MJ Halberstadt's play Deal Me Out. Actors are encouraged to audition for any role(s) they see themselves fitting. BPT will be casting a non-binary performer in the role of "Kay".
To be considered for an audition slot, please submit a headshot and resume to email@example.com by August 30. Please also identify which roles you would like to be considered for — and would be comfortable cast as — in this e-mail.
The open call will be held on September 6 from 1—5 PM at the theater. Rehearsals for Deal Me Out begin January 21, and the production runs February 13 to March 1. Some developmental table reads will be scheduled throughout the fall within the cast’s availability. The theatre will consider Equity and non-Equity actors. Equity actors will be hired with a Tier A Category 1 NEAT contract, non-equity actors will be offered $318 weekly.
DEZ M (he/him/his), mid-20's. An original member of the board game group. Eager to connect with his friends, but often to the point of being tactless and blunt.
OBERON M (he/him/his), mid-20's. The leader and host of the board game group. A bit of an overgrown child, easily distracted.
CLEO F (she/her/hers), mid-20's. An original member of the board game group. A natural caregiver and diplomat. She seeks problems to fix.
AGATHA F (she/her/hers), mid-20's. Cleo’s fiancée who otherwise might not be in the board game group. Sensitive, guarded, but with plenty of opinions that spill out when she is provoked.
KAY NB (they/them/theirs), mid-20's. A relatively new member of the group. They are intense and opinionated — especially about board games. While proud to be NB, they’re pragmatic enough about this conservative suburb to occasionally present as female -- as a matter of safety.
LUCIEN M (he/him/his), mid-20's. A relatively new member of the group. He is sensitive, unselfish to his own detriment.
